About me

Hello everyone!

I'm James! Since a very young age, I've been a passionate custom Android developer, recognised by XDA Developers for all the contribution to the community.

Goals

  • Creating an honest and helpful community on platforms like XDA and Telegram
  • Collaborating with users to gather feedback on issues and bugs for further stability
  • Upbringing stable Android versions on legacy devices to extend lifespan
  • Tackling devices specification issues, such as partition tables with newer Android upbrings
  • Ensuring stable usage on ROMs that are tested on actual hardware
  • Speaking to users to implement/suggest new features to existing custom ROMs

Bio

James Gatt is an AOSP Engineer based in Malta.

He is currently undertaking Bsc. Computer Engineering in the University of Malta, whilst progressing his Android Engineering expertise in his free time.

James' journey started from a curiousity at a young age from which sparked interest in building AOSP, using the C programming language, Ubuntu and any related self-taught knowledge.

Throughout his journey, James embraced and contributed to the open-source community, by sharing his work on platforms like GitHub and GitLab, whilst also contributing patches and review on several Gerrit platforms.

Later in his Android career, James took his chances and applied as a conference speaker at major Android conferences to share his experience with AOSP and custom ROMs in events like Android Worldwide, droidcon and Google I/O Extended Malta.
